What Our Customers Say
The HISTORY of the Belfry
A Legacy of Community and Tradition
Originally known as The George, The Belfry’s roots reach back to the early mining days of the Forest of Dean.
It was once a lively meeting place for hardworking miners — often bustling from the early hours as locals gathered after long shifts underground.
When the mining industry declined, The George fell silent and eventually closed its doors. But in 1992, the Bell family stepped in. With dedication, hard work, and the support of the local community, they lovingly restored the building — transforming it into the warm and welcoming Belfry you know today.
